Setting Up the Fortune Wheel

Pre-Requisites: Have Proof Factor Installed on your site! Find out how here: https://help.prooffactor.com/category/integrations/

Let's Create a Campaign for the Fortune Wheel! If you have any trouble, email us at support@prooffactor.com and we'll help you fix it asap!

1. Create or add Fortune wheel to a Campaign

  • From the Dashboard or the Campaigns view, select "Fortune Wheel" as a new plugin to set up.
  • Configure the Fortune Wheel to your desired settings

2. Configuring Fortune Wheel

Slices Tab

  • Select Coupon Types
    • Coupon Code - if you want the slice to have a coupon code if a user lands on it
    • Product - if you want the slice to give the user a code for a full product
    • No Prize - if you want the slice to a "No Win Slice" (Note, you have to turn on "Allow wheel to fall on losing slice" to be able to select this type).
  • Type in Titles for each slice
    • Type in descriptive titles for each slice so that the user knows what they can or have won. What you type in here will literally be on the slices when the user spins.
  • Coupon Code
    • For winning slices, you have to have some sort of code for winners to be able to claim their discount. These codes will be created with your payment processor and then you insert them here.
  • Set Gravity
    • Gravity controls the probability that a spin falls on a specific slice.  The total sum of all the gravities for all of the slices acts as the denominator; the gravity for a specific slice acts as the numerator, and the probability for a slice to hit is that slice's numerator over the denominator (sum of all slices). For example; if you have a gravity of 10 for a 15% discount slice, and there are 4 other slices with a gravity of 20 (for a total gravity of 10 + 20 + 20 +20 +20 = 90), then then the probability of a the 15% discount slice hitting is going to be 10/90 = 11%

Appearance Tab

  • Theme
    • Proof Factor provides a number of different themes for you to use to help match the look and feel of you website design. Using the drop down, you can see the different themes available and pick one that works for you! Or you can customize (more below!)
  • Logo
    • As part of the customization process, you are able to add your website logo to the Fortune Wheel; you can do this in one of two ways
      • If your logo is online, you can input the *image URL* into the text box, and we will automatically pull the image from the web.
      • If you have your logo saved on your computer, you can hit the "Upload" switch under the text box and it will allow you to upload your image directly!
  • Background Image
    • The Fortune Wheel background can also be customized, and here you can actually add an image to the background. You can add a transparent image so that it provides an opaque overlay on the background color, or a full image if you want your own very specific image. Like the logo, you can either do it via Image URL or upload your own!
  • Wheel and Pointer
    • The next two settings, Wheel and Pointer allow you to take customization to the next level. Here, you can actually upload your own fortune wheel and pointer design. If you have the desire, you can create your own Fortune Wheel, and upload the PNG to your account for use on your website!
  • Overlay Background
    • This is the color of the overlay of your website when the Fortune Wheel is activated. We make it opaque, so that the user can still see your website, it just calls out the Wheel a little more. You can modify the Opaque levels to either show or hide your website more and more.
  • Colors
    • Finally, we allow you to modify all of the colors on the Fortune wheel, including the buttons colors, the text colors, the background colors etc.

Texts Tab

  • Idle
    • Idle is the text that shows up initially on the Fortune Wheel when it first pops up. Here you can change
      • Title: The large text/title at the top
      • Description: The text under the title telling the user what to do
      • Button: The text on the button, should be action words/call to action!
  • Coupon Results
    • Coupon Results text is the text that shows up after they've spun if they landed on a Coupon Type Slice. There are two important dynamic pieces of text here. The dynamic text changes based on what they've won. They are:
      • {{ label }} - This is what they won - this is pulled directly from the "Title" text of the slice in the "Slices" Tab
      • {{ value }} - this is the actual coupon code that you have for winning. It is pulled directly from the "Coupon Code" field in "Slices" tab.
  • Product Results
    • Product Results text is the text that shows up after they've spun if they landed on a Product Type Slice. There are two important dynamic pieces of text here. The dynamic text changes based on what they've won. They are:
      • {{ label }} - This is what they won - this is pulled directly from the "Title" text of the slice in the "Slices" Tab
      • {{ value }} - this is the actual product code that you have for winning. It is pulled directly from the "Coupon Code" field in "Slices" tab.
  • No Prize Result
    • No Prize Resul ttext is the text that shows up after they've spun if they landed on a No Prize Slice (if enabled).
  • Other
    • Other Text is the text that shows up as descriptive text or as instructions.
      • Email - this is what is in the email box before they spin
      • Rules - You can use this space to let users know the rules of playing. By default, we've included a couple of rules, but you can add or remove more. It allows HTML here, so we use the unordered list (bullet points).
      • Close Button - post spin, closing the wheel.
      • Copied to Clipboard - We automatically copy the coupon to clipboard, so we want to let users know!
  • Errors
    • Errors Text shows up when there is some sort of error when a user is using the wheel.

Display Tab

The Display tab allows you to set setting for when the wheel is displayed, both on Desktop and on Mobile devices. The settings are the same for each, so we'll go through them.

  • Display on Desktop Devices or Display on Mobile Devices
    • Here you can toggle if the Fortune Wheel will show up at all on Desktop users and Mobile Users. You'll have to think about if you want to show the Fortune Wheel for both type of users
  • Display on leave intent desktop/Show on leave intent mobile
    • Leave intent is when ProofFactor tracks a user is going to leave. We almost always want to show the Fortune Wheel here, but there may be some cases where you don't want to do that. Toggle that here.
  • Show on a timer desktop/Show on a timer mobile
    • After a user has been on your site for a while, you may want to show the Fortune Wheel - we suggest ~10+ seconds, so that the user can get a feel for your site before you ask them for something.
  • Show Using a Link
    • By inputting this HTML element (ask you dev!) you can show it when a user clicks on something specific to your site.
  • Days before user will see wheel again
    • Because we don't want to inundate users everytime they come to your site, we limit the number of times a user sees the wheel - we do this by setting a timer for multi days - our default is 30, but you can update/change that here.

Advanced Tab

The Fortune Wheel allows custom CSS and JavaScript. This allows you to take the customization to an ultimate level. You'll have to have some web development skill, but if you want to make the changes, you can do that here.

Integrations Tab

Because Fortune Wheel collects emails - we want to help you get them to your email marketing platform. You can do that here.

  • If you've already set up an integration, they will show here, you simply select the integration from the dropdown and hit "Add Integration" Now all of your collected emails will be automatically transferred to your email marketing provider!
  • If you haven't, you'll go to: https://app.prooffactor.com/integrations to set up the integration before you can select from the drop down.

Subscribers Tab

Proof Factor keeps a record of everyone that has provided emails to you - if you need to export them for any reason, you can do that here. If you do, you'll get an email with a CSV with the user data to the email you used to sign up.
